On 13 October 2022, Dr. James Thornton gave an online presentation on behalf of GEO Mountains as part of the course/webinar series "Analysis of vegetation dynamics data in the Andes in the current scenario of global change”. The course was coordinated by CONDESAN, and supported by GEO Mountains.

The presentation sought to provide an overview of potentially relevant datasets (remote sensing, climate, etc.), many of which are listed in the GEO Mountains General Inventory, that could be combined with in situ observations to gain new insights into future vegetation dynamics under climate and land use scenarios across the Andes.

More generally, the hybrid course aimed to help build the capacity of scientists seeking to understand functional and floristic trends in the tropical Andes, and to identify and address new research questions.
